Default new idea maybe?

well ive seen roof mounted spares and rear mounted spares on swing outs swing downs and swing swing ups...
but ive never seen a front mounted spare on a swing down on an xj.
ive always been one to try things differently which is one reason y i got my xj
but it seems like this would work. as a effective tire carrier/deer protection/and vision saver. mounted to a front bumper/sub frame swing down tire carrier home fab?
any ideas/opinions/or comments greatly appreciated
thanks

I think with the concern that commonly comes up about trying to cool our XJs I would think a big hunking tire in the way of the radiator would compound the problem- and if you don't have a problem cooling now you might by doing this.

What Cherockee said, plus if your running any size tire over stock it will block your view of the road, and if you mount it lower you will lose most of your approach angle.

Not to mention reduced visibility. Doable, though, I've seen it done on old trucks before.

ha-ha ... You might have some trouble explaining to the Po-Po why there's rubber blocking your view. Even a stock size tire might present problems since I foresee having to mount it high enough to clear a bumper. Then of course there's the heating thing. Hood vents perform best with cross ventilation and you'd reduce that quite a bit by putting a tire up front.
I always thought innovation is a great thing, but only if it improves an existing idea, or quality of life. What do you hope to accomplish besides being "different"?

(No one has said this, but frankly I think it would look silly )

hmm. now that i take in all this i realize that all im doing is being different. it wouldnt really reduce vision because i wasnt gonna have it mounted that high. maybe have a crossbar come off the bumper and have the mount 3-4 inches off the bumper. but that would reduce airflow hmmm.... jus knock the idea i guess. thanks for crushing my dreams haha naw but thanks for the valuable input i dont need more heating problems haha
