Hello - Today i took the jeep for a good 100km run today. When i left the a/t fluid was pinky red, when i got back the fluid looked like new motor oil/ browny colour, i couldnt tell if it was burnt or not. i changed the oil. but what i do notice is that 4th gear slips/feels jumpy. Does anyone no what is up with this

How long ago was the fluid changed before you went for the drive? If you'd just changed it and it went black on you, I'd think about changing the filter. Actually, probably couldn't hurt to do that anyway.

You might think about running some SeaFoam through your trans. If 4th gear slips/jumps it might be your torque converter locking/unlocking.

your transmission slips in all 'gears' or just in 'fourth'?

3rd gear and 4th gear are basically the same 'gear'. The only difference between 3rd and 4th is that in 3rd your torque converter is NOT locked and in 4th gear your torque converter IS locked.

There is a fourth gear and the torque converter locks up IN fourth gear. If your transmission is slipping and burning the fluid, it is done for. The fluid is not the problem now, it might have been before, but now the clutches are burnt up.

Agree..

By the way a normal trans fluid change on changes a little over 1/2 the fluid. It may take 3-4 changes to get all the old fluid out of the system. You may just have a solenoid going out.
