Your jeep has a np231. Why would you be looking for a NP242?

Wouldnt it be better to have full time 4wd in snow instead of 4wd hi?

In snow where you actually need 4wd than you don't need to worry about if its full time or not because you shouldn't be going fast, I'd say the only reason I would want full time would be for snow drifting but besides that or even for that my 231 is perfectly fine

You don't really need full time in snow. Part time will work great because the tires can slip. Hard grippy surfaces are what are bad for part time
