There are some wires coming from my 1988 mjs transfer case they have been cut I'm wondering what they did.
Possibly unrelated the lady I bought it from told me I pull this cable and turn the handle to use 4wd
Thanks
They look important
This is just wierd i still have the normal selector as well i havent tested 4wd drive yet<br/>

those coloured "wires" are actually vacuum lines that run to the front axle to engage the shift fork to actuate your front drive axle.
so what they did was remove that vacuum system and shift fork and replaced that with the "posi-lok" engagement system. so you have to pull that handle to manually shift the front fork to engage the front axle when you put it into 4wd
me personally, i pulled that system out of my xj and installed a non vacuum d30 from a limited. this gave me the solid one piece shaft and larger 297 u-joints.
you could keep what you have and try to get used to that cable setup, mine kept popping out when i needed it, or you could do what i did and just replace the front axle with another d30 from a 242 equipped jeep.
