Default Transfer Case sounds like its catching while in 4 wheel drive

I have a 89 XJ with a newly rebuilt T-case. While in four wheel drive it will have a loud "catching" sound coming from the T-Case. It even will jerk the jeep a little. It acts like the chain is catching and having to jump a grove to get back on track with the two gears. But really I am stumped. Any help is appreciated.

I assume you have the same diff ratios front and back? why did you have to replace it?

Yes I assume the same thing considering they are both the original diffs. It was replaced because the old one got tore up by the privious owner who didnt know squat about 4 wheeling. He ground the gears to peices.
