Transfer Case Shifter Compatibility
I recently purchased a 1998 XJ and for some reason it did not come with the shifter assembly for the transfer case (except for the linkage which is dangling underneath at the moment).
When I test drove it I put in in 4WD by crawling underneath and it works great, so I'm confused as to why it is missing.
Anyway, I went to the local Pull-A-Part and robbed one from a 1995, but it doesn't fit. This brings me to my question: What model years can I use for my 1997?
Any help would be greatly appreciated; I want to go to the Gulches this weekend, but I don't want to have to keep climbing under the Jeep to shift into 4WD.
Thanks

Was this a non-completed 2wd to 4x4 conversion?
First you need to determine which T-case you have seletrac 242 or Camand trac 231. There should be a red and silver tags on the face of the case which will say the model. Then I would get a match ing handle and linkage assymbly from the same year donor.
