Just today I pulled the engine/tranny/t-case from an XJ. This one has the NP 231. There are no similarities with mine and the picture you have. What is transmission and t-case are we looking at here??

I can't really make out picture two. I'm guessing you're instauling new guts to a rig. If so, most linkage 'pops' into place using plastic gromits. There will be a pivot mount connected to the vehicle itsself, in which the rods rotate within. It's hard to explain as it is.. could you be a little more specific with your question?

A new rubber tcase mount deal??? The transmission should be supported by a skid/mount plate ..t-case should just be sitting there without any additional mounting (unless I'm way off and misunderstood what your're asking).

Thats the vacum switsh that tells the dash light to come on.

Spray some lube on the plastic, and apply a lot of pressure to pop the linkage back in.
