ok so i have a 95 XJ automatic NP231 transfer case and i replaced the chain probably 3 or 4 months ago. and no i was driving the other day and i noticed a clicking. ive also noticed that my TC has been leaking since i did the chain and i just dont feel like redoing the gaskets. so i keep filling it.

but now i noticed if i come down my hill in neutral and listen you can hear a clicking noise. i checked my back u-joints theyre both still good. the fronts i didnt check but they seem ok. when i did the chain i noticed that the front output shaft bearing had up and down play but it wasnt an incredible amount.

also i had done my transfer case mount after that because it collapsed. now i had a driveline vibe at like 65-70 that was when i did my bad back u joint though. so now im at a lose

so heres my question could it be that bearing? could it be the back out put shaft bearing?

 

Sure. Only one way to tell.....

 

so how do i...? take the driveshafts outs and push them up and down? im gonna just start at the front and work my way back all bearings
