Default Transfer case noise

Anytime im in 4wd my tcase makes a terrible clicking noise what are the possible causes?

That's not a whole heck of a lot to go on, maybe your X wants you gone? Have you checked the fluid level?

I was told maybe a chain slipping in there it only does it under mild to heavy acceleration but under a calm take off no problems until its gotta work hard again

Not wise my fellow Arizonan. Always check the lube level and condition of every lubrication holding component on a newly acquired vehicle before putting it to use.

If you don't know how, get someone to do it for you.

i know its less than a year old i filled it up when i got the jeep i just dont know how to effectivly check it without losing a bunch

Remove the filler plug. You won't lose any as the level is supposed to be at teh bottom of the filler plug opening.

Look at your trans mount and how close your exhaust pipe is to the crossmember where it goes over it.
