Default transfer case lowering

I was crawling around under my 96 xj yesterday replacing the fuel filter. I noticed that there was a 1 inch block between the tc cross brace and the frame. Does that mean the po put the 1 inch drop on the tc or is that stock? Just wondering

Is there any benefit of running the drop with a stock lift?

I've got 2 inch rc shackles on the back, but my springs are saggy so I don't really get the lift from them.

nope, probably a little more stress on the engine mounts than without it. This is how I justify things though, "I could take the TC drop kit off and put it back to stock, or I could buy a lift so I don't waste a good TC drop kit"

So If i'm going for 2-3 inches of lift this will work well for that?

they say every jeep acts different to a lift, I have a 3" lift on mine and I would get vibes between 2500 and 3500 rpm's, I put a 1" drop on and took care of it, I would say that it would work for yours but know real way to tell without actually doing it. I think your chances are pretty good though

onesic6 did you have to adjust your t-case shift linkage when you did the drop?

don't know I have not tried it in anything but 2wd so far, I will check it on my way home from work and let you know. Only thing I noticed was that the shifter sits further back in 2nd gear (mines a 5 speed)

My t-case drop kit I bought from 4 Wheel Parts came with a link relocation bracket. The instructions said this would help out with your problem of it slipping out of 4wd.
