Transfer case linkage

Transfer case linkage
hi guys,
i have a 95 cherokee 4.0 auto with the 231j transfer case.it was givin to me for free after there daughter drove it with no fluid in the transfer case, and blew it out.i put a good used t-case in it and now the linkage/rod that goes to it is too long and binds before it will lock in 2wd.the linkage/rod is 12inches in length.i also had to change the lever on the transfer case that the linkage/rod attaches to.
i also had to change the front output yoke
any ideas?
