Transfer Case Growl
Hey,
I've been getting a growl now for a month or so, which I assumed was a wheel bearing, so I brought it in to a local shop thinking they could throw on a new hub and have it done by lunchtime. Turns out the bearings are all good, and the noise is coming from the transfer case, and is louder when the car is in 4wd. Anyone had anything like this happen to them in the past? 120k mi, '01, 4L

Okay, I just talked to them again, and it's actually the front differential gear that's making the noise. Can I repair this myself, what's involved in that? should I repair or replace, and what are the costs associated with each?
Thanks for the help!
