transfer case
i have a 242 select trac and found a 231 to put in my xj. mi question is if the 231 is vaccume engage how do i engage it? the 242 just used linkage.

231 is not vacuum engaged it has a vacuum switch for the disco front axle is all. If you have a 242 now then you are good to go. Just get the linkages with the 231.
