Default transfer case

95 xj sport.
I bought it a couple weeks ago.. Last owner was an idiot and knocked a hole in the transfer case and yanked the chain out because it wore out and was rattling around in there.. I need a transfer case.. Ive checked around on used ones from junkyards but im kind of sketchy buying a used one, any.advice for the cheapest price? And also ive never changed on out.. How hard is it and what do i need to do it? Someone pleasr help

Thats what im trying to find out. All i can find is thst only year models 94 and 95 will fit it dur to bolt pattern.

What transfer case do you have right now?

NP242: shift pattern 2High, 4Full, 4Part, Neutral, 4Low
NP231: shift pattern 2High, 4Part, Neutral, 4Low
