trans will not engauge , or shift

trans will not engauge , or shift
1991 cherokee sport 4x4 , 4.0 , aw-4 trans , auto , it was gone through and checked by a trans mech. and it seems to be pumping fluid being that ive managed to put 6 - 7 quarts of fluid in it but when i shift to a gear it does not engauge , this is a fresh rebuild so the trans or motor have 0 miles on them , trans is used but the mechanic said she looked perfect inside and out , and suggestions , comments , remarks , ANYTHING???

I kinda thought of that last night at work , I don't even remember if I hooked anything up for the transfur case ..... ill have to check it out today ... thanks guys
