trans. power/confort switch???
On my 89 xj it has a trans. Power/confort switch that I think came with the jeeps tow package stock! The package had been taken off before I got it but the remains of what looked like air bag lines were on the rear end!?!? So my question is what benifit does this trans. "Power" switch has for off roading? Or should I just disconect it & hook up an electric fan?
Thanks in advance!!!

The power/comfort switch was a standard item on all 87-91 XJs and had nothing to do with a towing package. It's only purpose was to electronically change the shift points in the trans. When on comfort, it changes gears at a lower RPM to provide a smoother shift. When on power, it shifted at higher RPMs to access the horsepower and torque that is available in the higher RPM range.
The tow package did not have air bags, it only included the hitch, trailer wiring, optional gearing for extra tkae off power, and the option for the Dana 44 rear axle for 87-89.

I don't know that it would help getting up to highway speed with oversized tires. Regearing is about the only way I know to regain the power lost by having to turn those big meats under ours Jeeps.
