Default Trans Leaking

I have a aw4 trans in my Cherokee and it keeps leaking at the bell housing. I have replaced the front seal 3 times. The first two stopped it from leaking for a short time but this time a replaced it and it made no differnce at all. Pours out like crazy. Any help with this would be great. Thanks

I checked for burrs and discoloring. All looked in order. Can it be the converter or the pump?

If Im thinking of the correct seal, did you examine the part of the torque converter that goes into the seal? If that is scored up it will eat seals like mad.

The conveter looked good, no scores, or discoloring. The seal that I have replaced is the very front seal on the trans. The one the convert butts up too.

Man,you got me! I've only run into this on that seal once and it ended up being a scored torque converter. The only zero mile failure I've had was when my dumbass did'nt take my time and did'nt have the converter seated fully. Since you've done this job multiple times (according to your post) I'd have to rule that out. Wish I could be of more help, hopefully some of the more experienced than I on the forum will be able to help you out.

I ran into this on a zj with the 42re trans..and it was a bur that was almost invisible to my eye..I had a magnifying glass and found it..I took some emory cloth and smoothed it down and all was fine after this..It took me 2 tries to get it right..I would say this has to be the issure with yours as well cause there is nothing else there to damage the seal..

Thanks for your help tho. I have done this trans a total of 4 times and to be honest that was the cause of the second time of it being removed. So I feel your pain there. I think I can pull this thing out in have it back in in less then 2 hours. HA HA! Maybe the converter is slightly out of round..... Just
can't tell.....

If it were me and i could not find the problem with the torq and i had replaced that many seals i would look no further just replace it with a fresh rebuild as i can't see any other part that could possibly damage that seal and one other thing i always buy my rebuilds from napa and all my parts for that matter..Good luck..
