This morning the jeep was giving me a hard time shifting out of 1st. I had to let off the gas for it to shift. Then after I got out of lowes the tranny was shifting fine. Now it WILL NOT shift out of 1st at all
. Do I need a new trans or is this fixable.

In this order..........
1. Verify condition and level of fluid on the dipstick. Simple stuff first.
2. The "throttle position sensor" is a very real suspect here. It is directly involved in transmission shifting. They can be tested and aren't that expensive to replace.
3. Be sure the TV cable is working properly. Here is a link.

OK I just went out and tried shifting manually and it still would not shift out of first. I checked the fluid this morning when it started doing it, it was full. The TPS was just changed in the beginning of the summer.

Don't rule out the TPS. New(er) parts fail all the time.
Test it. It is what any shop tech. would do.
It is responsible for a high percentage of transmission symptoms.

Yea I'm glad that the problem was just that. I don't have the money for a new trans, and its to cold to be laying on the ground to pull one from the junk yard. Then on top of the tps going yesterday the IAC went today. Thats $79 in sensors in two days.

Yes, yes, yes.. Never rule out New parts.. Human error will always get the best of us. OP I am glad to hear you got it fixed brother another good jeep back on the road!
When checking the trans fluid level on our Cherokees, does the trans need to be in Neutral, engine running?
I know most, if not all, of the newer Chryslers need to be checked this way. Check 'em when in Park, and you'll get a false reading.
Thanks,
Dan
