Trans Help Please
Please forgive me if this is in the wrong place, but am new to all this computer stuff. My 89 Cherokee just sat for a week, and now does not want to shift up. It will go reverse and stay in low gear, but fails to shift up, and won't go up manually either. Fluid level is fine, and has never given any problems till now. It is the 4 speed auto if that helps any. Where should I start looking for trouble. Oh, did notice the throtle was a little stiff when it started that morning, but other than that, shifted fine when I parked it last. Thanks for any help.

180k miles, 5k since it was serviced. This just happened over a week of not driving. I looked at the conections on the TPS, someone mentioned that to me, or do you think that the TPS could be the culprit, it is 20 years old....

The shift down linkage coming from the Throttle Body could be your culprit since your tranny quit shifting and your throttle got stiff all at the same time.
