Well i think my tranny took a crap this evening. It is a ax15. The jeep has a 215000 on the clock. I dont know much about transmissions but i lost 2nd gear and when i let off the gas i get a bad grinding in all gears. It did this without any kind of warning. It shifted fine this morning and i was leavin work gettin on the highway and it wouldnt go into 2nd. I am tryin to figure out what to do... Any suggestions?
I also have the 93 with the auto in it that could be swapped in this weekend if need be...But what all would i need to swap? Shift mechanism for sure, but what about the computer? Driveshafts? Tcase?
I am a very capable mechanics so i can do all the work myself but do you guys think i should swap the trans or try to find another 5 speed. if i swap them i can take the AX apart during the evenings to see whats wrong. Or if anyone has one cheap???
Thanks in advance
Bryant.

as long as you have everything for the auto you can swap it over,i would look for another ax-15 or rebuild it. Depends on how long it can be down for. Swapping to the auto although it can be done it is alot of work.

It can be,but I would give yourself a couple, besides swapping trany, xfercase, you will need to use the pcm,(need to make sure the pcm is compatible with your 95) and tcu controller from the auto so it can communicate. shifter, shift cable, steering wheel lock cable.
I would look at repairing the manual if possible.
i would look at it closley and think about it first,it is alot of work.
