Tranny trouble????

Engine: 4.0L straight 6
Tranny trouble????
The auto tranny on my 88 cherokee is acting up. When I le off the gas, it shifts down, but when I hit the gas again it shifts back up. There is also an aweful clicking noise(not that loud) that comes from the tranny when I accelerate after I am stopped
