Default Tranny coolers....School me please.

I have a 2001 Cherokee without a factory installed towing package. I had a receiver hitch installed and I tow an inclosed cargo trailer from time to time. If I tow locally I don't notice heat from the trans mound, but I diffentely do on extended trips. What kind of tranny coolers have you guys used and do they effect engine cooling?

Just pick one up at the local parts store.

There's really nothing to it. Plumb the return lines thru the new cooler and you're done. Simple as pie.

No, it will not effect engine cooling.

I have a power steering fluid cooler, trans fluid cooler, engine coolant cooler, differential fluid cooler...etc. Still doesn't effect engine cooling.

I am surprised that you have the towing package, but no tranny cooler. Typically, tranny coolers are part of the "towing package".

My bad, that is what I get for responding to anything at 6:00AM before coffee, sorry. To your question, I had my tranny cooler installed by the mechanic that does most of my work and had Napa's best and largest that would fit installed, cannot recall the model name or #. So far it has done well. They are fairly simple to install, but I preferred to have it done since it was 115 degrees here in Phoenix when I needed it to be installed. As mentioned it does not effect engine cooling.

B&M #70264 here and as stated install it inline in the return line (upper line out of rad) for max cooling.
