Default trac loc question

if my transfer case has the two options for "part" and "full" time 4wd does that mean the axle has limited slip? it was in a 1990 wagoneer if that matters
thanks in advance

No. It refers to the transfer case. In full time, it's only locked and sending power to front and rear part of the time but not all the time. In part time, it's locked full time and always sending power to both the front and rear axle. This transfer case choice has nothing to do with the axles themselves

Heres how you can check if your rig has limited slip and posilock. Jack your rear
Up and spin the read tires if they both spin in the same direction you have a posilock system if they spin in opposite directions then you don't. If you worried about traction control when you not in 4wd you can get a locker in your differential. Does you 4wd lever say 4 full-time?

The limited slip is not related to the tc, you could have either type of tc and have limited slip

Ita true the limited slip is in the rear differential and the transfer case sends power to all 4 wheels but if he has a np242 TC then although that's not a limited slip differential it will give him great traction

mine does not. the one the axle is off of does. i was curious because i gave this axle away and my dad was online and saw something about some of them having positive traction. so i was just wondering.
