TPS wiring Issues?
Hello. I tried searching the forums but couldn't find anything with my issue.
I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 4wd. A few weeks ago I couldn't get my jeep to start. I ended up replacing the coil pack and the CPS. Finally I got it started but my TPS is reading 100% open. I swapped it out with a good one from my other Jeep and it reads the same. The sensor is fine. I traced the wire to the computer and did some troubleshooting to find out it wasnt the wire that connects to the comp. My guess is somewhere theres a short in the TPS wire to the ground? I can't find any wiring diagrams on where they all lead to. I'm wondering if anyone had a similar situation and a fix? Only code is for the TPS nothing else.
Also related possibly is my airbag light came on and my horn doesnt work? Possibly something wrong with just the clock spring but i think its a wiring thing. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Also I'm from the salt belt area of Chicago.

If it's reading high, then it's most likely the ground wire to the sensor is broken. If you have a meter, measure the resistance of the ground wire at the TPS to the engine block. If it's more than a few ohms or not connected at all, you can add a new ground by splicing in a wire and connecting it to one of the intake manifold bolts. I would inspect the wiring harness where it traverses from the back of the engine to the firewall. Over time, especially if you have bad motor mounts, it can get chaffed or flexed enough for the wiring to rub through or break internally.
