Question TPS Sensor From A Junk Yard?

My TPS sensor needs replacing & the local AutoZone wants some $45 Bucks for it. I know you can get one from the yard, but is it wise to buy an electrical sensor at a junk yard?

Its for a 98 Cherokee Limited with a 4.0L sittin on 35's. I also have a brand new NSS ready to go in.

As long as it works it should be fine. You will never know how long it's gonna last though. If you were to buy new, you shouldn't need to replace it for a very long time. Probably the rest of your vehicles natural life.

If you do get one from a yard, buy a day or two's worth of warranty on it, they charge a dollar a day around here. That way if you get a dud you can get your money back.

Check RockAuto, they've been cheaper on some of the sensors

No way.

Spend the money, get one from the dealership. OEM is the only way to go on sensors for these Jeeps.

Or waste your time chasing ghosts, redoing work, and then finally buying a good one.

Your choice.

Correct. At the end of the day, this is where you'll end up. I started to post this also, but I figure everybody's gotta learn.

Ive always had good luck with the autoparts stores sensors. I know not everybody has that luck, so yea, OEM would be the way to go.

Imagine buying a brand new electrical part (or any part for that matter) and the first thing you do when you take it out of the box is throw it as hard as you can against concrete. So lets say your "previously enjoyed" TPS (or any part for that matter) comes out of a ride some drunk slammed into a tree @ 80 mph, see why they call it a "junk yard" ?
