Signal and power wire read 56.0 and ground reads 10.6 on the multimeter third tps today obd says tps low voltage I'm at a loss I know my ground should read 0.0 no volts so can I use an alternative ground (chassis battery etc) or will I need to cut the wire loom to track out the wires and replace them this is giving me hell or is there something else giving me this problem 91 xj 4.0

What scale is the meter set to? Those voltage readings don't make much sense unless you are reading millivolts...in which case the +5V supply is extremely low.

It was set on 200 and 2000 millivolts got the same reading on both I think it's late now but early mOrning I can set it on both and update both readings

I've read the Cherokee manual which doesn't explain this problem it just tells me if I don't get an accurate reading or it's not a certain voltage at close and wot then replace it I did both ive replaced o2 sensor tps fuel pump and filter speed sensor fuel pressure regulator oil change accel tune up from quadratec and all codes cleared then tps popped up low voltage the last tps would spin both ways put it on the opposite side of the teeth and it had a lot of trans power opposite that it was gutless put the new one in and it feels fine but then it won't shift until high rpm so I parked it and have been trying to figure out the next route I'm tapped out on money maybe 150 left to spend also tapping or pushing the gas a little it wants to choke out and seem to die before it goes up and evens out

The correct voltage is in the 5 volt range, which would be off-scale for the two ranges you tried. The lowest range available that's greater than 5 volts is the one to use.

Yes you can run a replacement ground wire if necessary.

I decided to ground to chassis and it's driving fine trans feels a little of from adjusting the tv cable but I'm gonna drop the pan and do the filter anyways and then readjust it
