Question TPS Percentage Readings

Hey folks,

First, my vehicle:

2000 Cherokee Limited
4.0L I6 Engine
AW4 Automatic Transmission
140,000 miles

I recently ordered the Auto Tap DIY scan tool to help me troubleshoot an O2 sensor. Although the Auto Tap DIY software fell short of my expectations, it did help me correct the issue I had with the O2 sensor. But while playing around with the software I noticed that my Throttle Position Sensor was reading 15% at idle and only 75% at Wide-Open-Throttle. Is this correct?

The Jeep seems to be running great, although I also noticed that the Long Term Fuel Trim was at 17.5%. Most of the information I’ve found searching the net says it should be about 10% or less. I can see if the TPS was out of adjustment it could cause the LTFT to be high.

I searched around on the net for TPS percentage readings and found conflicting numbers about what I should be reading. I would think that it should read 0% at idle and 100% at WOT. I found some literature that says it should be 10-12% at idle and other literature that says 0% at idle.

Does anyone know for sure what the percentages I should be reading with the scan tool?

I do know that the previous owner changed the TPS once before but the Jeep wouldn’t run correctly with the new TPS. He didn’t know that it needed to be adjusted so he put the original TPS back on.

Thanks

There is no adjustment on the TPS for 1991-2001. It was necessary on 87-90, but that adjustment capability went away in 1991. Plug and play with that piece for yours.

Apostle2, have you fixed your problem?
I have the same trouble, 15% TPS and -17% LTFT while idling.
