TPS: 102
IAC motor: 119
MAP: 84
Crank PS: 73
Cam PS / Distributor Pickup Switch: 81

As preventative maintenance for winter driving, I want to replace some of these before they fail.
I recall that 2 of these failed much more frequently than the others.

Which of these are the most likely to die first?
Which of these rarely, if ever, fail?

None of those are PM items. Replacing a known working part with an unknown replacement part may lead to problems where none previously existed.

If you plan on keeping your Cherokee for a long time, consider this:

Chrysler parts for the XJ at the dealers have just about dried up and Chrysler is not reordering them. Parts they have at the warehouses around the country, of which there are large inventories, may last a little longer, but if they are XJ parts only, they to won't be reordered.

Of the parts you listed that should come from Mopar are the TPS and CPS. If you can afford them, I would get these two parts now and hoard them. The other parts can come from NAPA, Echlin brand. Forget BWD and other ChiCom parts.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Hoard:
"a stock or store of money or valued objects, typically one that is secret or carefully guarded."
Some real good advice.
Furthermore the CKP and CMP (on OBD-2) are the only ones of that list that are capable of leaving you stranded. I wouldn't bother carrying the rest as spares unless I was going on a really long trip.
That's just what I wanted to know.
Which ones will leave you stranded.
The CKP I will replace, but what is the CMP?
1) Crank PS: 73
2) Cam PS / Distributor Pickup Switch: 81
I think I will try to replace the CKP.
At 125k miles, it will probably die sooner or later anyway.
Why replace a working one? Just leave it.
