The hood is actually braced pretty good. There are 4 bolts (2 per side) holding the hood to the hinges. The hinges are bolted to the body/cowl by 8 bolts (4 per side). In addition, the hinge base plates are through-bolted. The lower cowl is a strong, integral part of the unibody.
The hood latch is attached down through the radiator support, another strong part of the body.
As you can see, the hood is attached to the body in a strong, triangular brace pattern.
The main problem you would have is keeping the hook bolts from tearing through the hood. You would probably want to put a backing plate on them on the underside of the hood to help spread the load.
