Default Roof Basket

New here to the forum. Looking for a roof basket for my 2000 Cherokee 4dr. that will hold a spare tire (31x10.5x15) and have the height to also fit a kayak rack system over the tire in the carrier. Anyone know of a basket that is deep enough to do this? I want the kayak to be centered over the roof area.

build it man. a lot cheaper and you can make it the way you want it.
look at my pictures and look in the fabrication section, also search "roof rack" or "roof basket". you will find all the info you need

oh and welcome to CF

Sounds to me like you're going to have to go with a custom build to get it that high. IMO, it will look ugly as sin too. One option would be to go with a standard aftermarket rack, and then fabricate something that will bolt on to that rack for your needed height for the kayak system. That way you can unbolt it when you're not using it and it won't be nearly as sinful.

I second the home built idea, but for the kayak rack, just get some extenders made up or diy to be able to fit over the spare
just my 2ç

I'm with Warthog, "Build it and the 'YAKS will come". but if your not set up to fab one up. Check out CL etc. for a genaric rack and use what warthog did to fasten it to the stock rails, or get one designed for our trucks (pricey). Either way you can figure somethin out to hold your kayaks (yaks). Off topic looks like your in FL. Where are you at? I'm in Ft. Lauderdale. What if you got a rack, had the tire in the middle, and had 2 kayak systems - one on each side, on a slant, angling down towards the side of the truck. Going front of the yak to the front of the truck of course not up and down. Then you can just lift the yak off while your standing next to the side door. Your profile will be lower, you maybe able to go through a BK drive-thru. PLUS you'll have room for one more kayak - (you and ALL your friends) kidding. keep us posted, pics are gooood!
