Hello folks. Need to find a source. For the torque limiter sleeve. Part # 53020598AB for the 4.0 liter valve cover of my 99 Jeep XJ
Was wondering why the cover was weeping.
Looks like I am missing them
Looks like it requires 15 pieces total and Chrysler/jeep is code NS3 no longer stocking item .
Anyone can point me other then some off shore location that will take 20 days to get and hope it's the right part.
Thanks
Greg

Ugh I know the bits you're talking about. I have absolutely no idea why nobody includes these with their gaskets!
I suggest hitting your local junk yard and grabbing the little inserts from another valve cover. Any 4.0L should do. Hell... get a new valve cover if you find one with the same design, then you can have a nice shiny refurbished one with fresh paint.
They do. My current VC is from a 1997 ZJ, matches my 1999 XJ's.

Yep got the Fel-Pro VS 50445 R gasket set. Blue silicon with grommets. So I am good there. Thanks for the replies thus far.

Torque limiters are needed to keep from squishing the gasket.

The pre-96 gasket and 96+ gasket are different designs. Pre-96s had cast valve covers and did not have the grommets/sleeves (I believe the prema-dry is the only one with holes built in the gasket frame like that). The 96+s had stamped steel valve covers and came with the grommets/sleeves from the factory and the perma-dry for those years also uses that design.

I believe their purpose is to prevent deforming the grommets, which is why only 96+ models have them, using a torque wrench and torqueing to spec prevents crushing the gasket (or using a 1/4" ratchet and not overdoing it), you can still over-tighten and deform the gasket even with the sleeves (at least the OE gasket, prema-drys are very hard to crush unless you really go ape on the bolts).
