Craftsmen is expensive but, they have a lifetime warranty, so if you happen to break one they replace it for free, cheap in the long run...

I hate buying the Chinese stuff but at the price with a lifetime warranty it's not easy to pass up. They often have 20% off coupons on the net by doing a Google search.

Kobalt tools are a lil on the higher sideas far as pric but not too bad. They hold up very well.

I have a Craftsman set that has 255 pieces. Scored it on black Friday for only $130. Great set for the money and has just about everything you'll need.

One thing you'll want is a good set of torx bits. Jeeps have a lot of torx screws and bolts...

Been a mechanic all my life and U cannot go wrong with a 200-300 pc starter set by Craftsman. About as cheap as a decent tool can be and lifetime replacement. I have many tools from many places. My Snap-on stuff is awesome BUT they are so expensive compared to anything else so I only bought what was necessary -like specialty tools.
U may want to look on craigslist where i see some great deals on all sorts of tools being sold by people moving or retiring from the trade.

I just moved 2,650 miles and still trying to figure out how to get my nearly 1 ton of tools to my new house.

Check out ACE Hardware. They now carry Craftsman tools. I know the Ace <1 mile from the house is giving good discounts to get people interested.

I bought my first Craftsman tools in 1978. Now have three, 24 drawer, roll-aways full. 80% Craftsman, 15% Snap On, and 5% other (including 1 piece Harbor Freight. What a piece of garbage it is). Craftsman has a very good lifetime warranty. They even replaced my 15 year old vice when I broke it.

Recently bought the 105 piece set for my son. It comes in a hard black plastic case. He carries it in the back of his XJ. ACE had the kit for $39.99 over the 4th. That is dirt cheap.

Like stated above, buy the sets. They are really discounted and you cannot go wrong with Craftsman.

X2... Bought my first set of Snap On in 1978 and now have a mix of good tools like Snap On and Mac. I have two buddies that sell tools... one Snap On and one Mac. I get a good deal from them but buy most of them at flea-markets, swap meets from guys getting out or need $$.
