first off hello, browsed this site for while now. have a question and figured its about time i join.
So I have a 00 jeep cherokee with a 4.0L and a cracked head. I have a 4.0L engine out of a 01 TJ. curiouse if it can drop in? i knwo that the water pumps are a bit different. and the brackets ect mount differently. i am just curiouse if it all works ok? or if i have to make some things work. if anyone has done this or knows info for me i would greatly aprichiate it. i dont have money to go buy an engine right now and would love to make the one i already have work. thanks for any info.

anyone have any ideas? i took a closer look and it looks like i will have to tap one hole for the water pump. and maybe one or two in the passengers side for the alternator bracket and a ground wire. no big deal to do. but the t/chain covers are a little different. the XJ cover has studs where bolts are on the TJ for the alternator bracket. just want to make sure before i start drilling and tapping.

the water pump for the block doesnt have the built in bracket for the p.s pump. i guess ill just have to use my t/cahin cover and drill and tap the holes for the water pump, t/chain cover, and others if needed. ill take pictures while i do it for clarification to other people interested in the same thing.
