Default Tires on Stock Rims

Hi,
I am new to the board and I am sure this question has been asked before but I could not find it. I just got my first cherokee and am looking to get some MT tires. Just wondering what is the the largest/widest tire I can get on the stock rim and not worry about clearance.

Thanks in advanced

It depends if you have a lift or not. I beleive stock height on 16" rims can fit up to a 235/70/r16 which comes out to about a 30" tire

Stock rims are 15x7 so you the largest tire you can run is a 10.5 tire.
I would stick with 235's though, 30's may rub a bit.

A 235/75/r15 is right around 29 depending on the manufacture of the tire.

I had those size tires (31's) on stock aluminum jeep rims but also had a 3 inch lift and had no problems rubbing... but they did fit on the rims...Tj

30x9.50x15's will fit on stock rims and will rub slightly on the lca when you go full lock.

I had my 30x9.5xr15 bfg a/ts on mine when it was stock with no problem. I have a 91 laredo with a factory tow package. Then I put my lift on and no need to buy bigger tires. lol ( for now)

I have and 88 with the factory 10 spoke rims that were popular then. I am running BFG 31 10.50 15 MTs Without any issues of them being to wide for the rims, they don't bow in the center and they where even.

The '84-'96 XJ's tend to never have issues running a wider tire (30x9.50) when stock. For some reason the '97+ years rub on the LCA's very lightly at full steering lock with the same tire. Not sure why, but I know it happens to a lot of guys with '97+'s.
