Tires sizes availability question
I am looking for short wide tires. Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes something 30" or shorter that 10 or 12" wide? I would prefer something not real aggressive like a thornbird but I do want a good all terrain tread.

go to www.tirerack.com and search for tires by size. There were 14 tires listed for size 30x9.5x15, noting wider unless you go up to 31s. I am assuming that you have 15" rims.
I do not know the other systm that well, but a 225/75/15 would be 225mm across which is about 8.85inches (222 / 25.4 = 8.85) and 6.65 inches high past the rim ((225 x .75) / 25.4 = 6.65). So mathematically, the diameter would be 28.3 inches (6.65 + 15 + 6.65 = 28.3).
Based on this, if you want 30inch diameter and 10 inches wide on a 15 inch rim, you would want a 255/75/15:
255 x .75 / 25.4 = 7.55: 7.55 + 15 + 7.55 = 30.10
255 / 25.4 = 10.05
Play around with this an see what kind of hits you get at tirerack and please let us know what you end up with. Thank you.

Lear how to calculate metric tires.
275/60/15 is 10.83" wide and 28" tall.
255/70/15 is 10.04" wide and 29" tall.
275 / 25.4 = 10.83" wide
275 X .60 X 2 / 25.4 + 15 = 28" tall
30 X 10.50 is 30" tall and 10.50" wide.
275/60/15 is 10.83" wide and 28" tall.
255/70/15 is 10.04" wide and 29" tall.
275 / 25.4 = 10.83" wide
275 X .60 X 2 / 25.4 + 15 = 28" tall
30 X 10.50 is 30" tall and 10.50" wide.

I know how to perform math but that doesn't help me find tires. I have looked at all the usual places (several online stores) but haven't had any luck thus far. Thats why I came here, hoping someone might know anywhere beyond the "usual" places that may have what I'm looking for.

Here on the Island everyone runs TSL Swampers, they are short and wide but very aggressive BFG used to make a 325/60 15 I think that's the size in their KM2 tread pattern, I wanted something wider than 10.50 but couldn't find in a short tire so I lifted and trimmed get the width I wanted on the jeep.
Good luck!

This is about it for short and wide. I wanted 31x12.50s for a little while but couldn't find any. I did find that ProComp USED to make one in their AT but not anymore I love my 31x10.50s though. Best of both worlds

275/60/15 is 10.83" wide and 28" tall.
255/70/15 is 10.04" wide and 29" tall.
these sizes only come in street tires which would be great if you do alot of sand running, but anything past that they suck

My bad......I read sentence #1 & #2 and failed to read "all terrain tread" at the end of sentence #3. The arithmetic still stays the same though.
