Default Tire Siping

Got this off a different forum. What do you think of this? Effective? Ruin the tires?

It works real well, but is the hard way. Get a tire groover.....

Does it ruin the tires? If it was done for winter, would the tires be ok next summer?

No it don't ruin them at all. It makes them even better off road also. See it lets the tire flex more.

Didnt ruin it at all, might benefit it a bit more to have a groover so you can open up the siping just a bit. The extra flex in the tread will help though.

There are a couple local offroad shops that will do the siping or custom grooving..So if I did get another set of MT's I would be doing that first thing..Mount the tire then take em and have the siping done. I din't trust myself using a razer blade..

I never tried it on myself or on my tires, but I know the dirt track guys I know are retarded about this. Some even take it as far as being all secretive about their "custom groove pattern that's gonna blow 'em away tonite" and keep their tires covered.

But I know, it does work.

you shouldn't have to take it to an off road shop to have it done either go to a tire shop that you trust (one that has something besides retards working at it) and they can do it most of the time.

Most of the tire shops around here are like Hibdons, firestone, bigo and so on and well they don't offer those sort of services..Like I said around here the offroad shops are the ones who do it so that's where I'll have to take it.. Not many choices after calling around. I had thought I would go AT's but may consider MT's again with the siping done..

Siping is very good, and can actually decrease tire wear slightly and help your mileage.
