So, I'm looking for fairly cheap to mid priced all-terrrain tires. I know theres always the BFG all-terrains, but what about the Kumho a/t, yokohoma geolanders, or anything else on the cheaper side of things. Thanks

 

First I would like to say please go with the BFG's, as far as I am concerned they are the best for all around driving and they will last you a heck of a long time. They are on the pricey side but most set of tires will last half as long as these.

Secondly I have heard decent things about the Kumho's if I were going with an AT tire and didn't have the money for BFG's I would go Kumho. That said I dont have any personal experience with the Kumho's my knowledge is only from reading/researching.

 

As far as A/T's go BFG K/O's are the best. I hyave seen Yokohama A/T's do almost as well.

 

yea i agree, you cant beat the bfg ats. but youve got to keep them aligned if you want them to last as long as they claim to, one of my friend didnt and his lasted 20k. they were $700 too. Ive got bfg MTs and id trade for ATs anyday.

 

I LOVED my Dueler Revo's... Fantastic tire for what I needed it for. With our mixed winter weather this tire was fantastic.... They worked well on loose dirt and general trail conditions, they didn't handle thick mud well, and some dry rock they worked fine for being an A/T, but I live in Illinois, most of our rocks are ground up and thrown in parking lots....

 

I totally agree. I've had good experience with Kumho's (Although not the A/T's) but a couple of the other street tires I've used were a good tire for the money.

what about the mickey thompson atz's, if i could afford them how much of a step up would they be from the bfg a/t if any?

Wouldnt be any step up to worry about, BFG's pretty much take the cake.

yup you cant beat them. They arent going to be the best in mud, but thats just the price you pay. The BFG ATs dominate in eveyr category except mud, and actually are probobly a bit better than other ATs in mud. One thing you could do is get a wider version (like 12.5 versus 10.5 or whatever) in the BFGs to give you a better footprint in mud.

 

It also depends on what kind of terrian you wheel on. I had a set of 31" Pro Comp ATs on a 1995 ZJ V8 and they were freaking awsome! I got over 50,000miles out of them! I live in CO so I am usually on rocks, and they worked really well there. They performed amazingly in winter driving conditions, as well. They were some of the best winter weather tires I have been around. I don't think them to be a good mud tire, so if that is your gig, count them out. They are cheaper than BFGs, esspecially if you can catch a good sale. I have freinds that wheel with the BFGs, and love them, so either way your going to get a great tire, it's all about prefference. They probably CAN be beat...but for an all around tire they're pretty fricken good!

 

I know several people that are running the Firestone Destination AT and love them. When I need to buy new tires I going to look at them also. I bought my zj last apr. and they had just put a set of firestone dest LE on it, they aren't to bad but the sidewalls worry me because they are P tires and not Lt tires and also the tread isn't aggressive enough.

 

BFG or Goodyear,,Ive run BFGoodrich AT in the past however I was thinking about trying a set of wranglers on my cherokee.Any advice,mostly highway with beach sand and a few muddy jobsite entrances
