Default TIRE Question? Wal-Mart says no

I took my jeep to wal-mart to have the Goodyear wrangler authorities put on. 31x10.50x15 my jeep has a 2 inch lift. They said they could not install them because the tire was rubbing when they turned it the tech said it was policy.

Can I fit a 31 inch tire on My jeep?
The tires are awesome looking.

It should fit. You might have to do some trimming. I would just buy the tires, and then go to another place..

you can fit them with a 2" lift...i did. you just have to trim the inside of the fender flare down some about an inch, then go back there and get those babies!

yeah you would be able to fit 31s with a two inch lift as long as you do some fender flare trimming, maybe some trimming on the innner fender walls, and you'd probably have to run wheel spacers. I just got 31x10.5s on my XJ last weekend. Im running BFGoodrich All Terrain KOs and they rub a little on the backs of the flares whenever I back out of my driveway, so once again, trimming does wonders lol
I have a 3 inch lift btw
good luck man!

It will rub when you turn hard left or right it rubs on the contol arm. There is a mod you can do to your steering stops to make it work. But I would say just go to another shop and get er done. I don't trust walmarts minimum wage mechanics for nothing. Oil changes especially.

You're actually pretty lucky that wal mart even tried it. Normally they will not even attempt to install tires that are not the recommended size for the vehicle. You can take the tires off in their parking lot, roll them in to them, they will mount and balance and you can install them on your jeep.

Good luck

I had 30's under a 2" lift and hated it until I went to 3.5" which was perfect. I wouldn't put 31's under 2" without trimming. Trust me, you'll get annoyed in a hurry if it's a pain to drive around town because of the rubbing, so if you're set on those 31's, trim or lift first.

They can get fired for putting oversized tires on. Walmart is huge and its a CYA deal (Cover your ***). Say they put 31's on your jeep and ur spedo is off and get a speeding ticket. Guess whos paying the speeding ticket?
Say you get in a car accident and your jeeps inspected and the oversized tires come up. Guess who the insurance company is going to go after? Obviously not one of the biggest retail stores in the world.. or course not.

They will fit with 2". I used to run 31's stock and they rubbed but whatever. budget boost of 2" of course they are going to rub, but you can trim. Dont let rubbing stop you from going up in size. I budget boosted my old ZJ and got those same exact tires in the same size and they only rubbed at full lock.

Yeah, wally-world here ONLY puts on the OEM size tires. When I DO have them do tire work for me, I bring a 3/4 socket and my breaker bar. Their air tools only go to 100 PSI and most of the time they cannot remove my lugs. After the first 3 hour trip with my F-150 and then they tell me they cannot remove 1 wheel since they cannot remove the nuts, I ALWAYS bring my own bar and loosen them BEFORE I go in. Lol.

Had them install 4 tires that I bought off Craigslist a few weeks ago. Took em 4 hours for 4 tire mount/balance. wow.

I do use Wally-world over the local tire guys as the local guys loove their impacts. Walmart actually drives the vehicle around and re-torques with a torque wrench. Kinda cool I think.
