That is one great thing about Canadian Tire around here.. they will warranty just about anything (for about $7/tire warranty at time of purchase)..

I have seen tires that were repaired in that area and holding up fine, although not as recommended. Most shops won't do it, but there are a few that shadier ones that will..

Well you can patch it. We weren't saying you couldn't but was saying it wasn't a good idea for street use.

No go on the patch in that area - it flexes too much at that point, especially in an off-road tire

Tube it. Good spare if you don't air it down.

Ahh one more reason I like having Bias-Ply tires.

The reason they will not patch a radial tire in the shoulder or sidewall is NOT because of the sidewall flexing. The patch is vulcanized to the tire and becomes part of it and flexes with it. The reason shops do not repair damage like that is because of the likely hood of a cord being damaged. If a cord is damaged there is a good likely hood of a zipper burst. That is what becomes dangerous.

I work at a Tire Kingdom, we wouldnt touch anything like that. But the optional "road hazard" warranty WOULD cover it and is offered on ANY tire wether its a M/T or not. The smart thing to do would be tube/patch it and keep it off of the road. Or if youre cheap use a plunge plug and keep on truckin. Just hate to see what your jeep looks like after it blows out going 60mph...
