Idk what's up with the search function- its not been working for my iPhone...
So what pressure do you guys like to run both on/off road? Do you run different pressures in front/rear? What's your max/min pressure? All input is welcome.

The guy who got me into my jeep/jeeping in general, said go for 32 front, 30 rear on highway. When 'froadin I usually don't drop too low as I probably have some pavement to cover when done, but somewhere around 20-25 psi depending on harshness. When we get a big snow storm and roads are really snowy (3+ inches) I'll usually drop to 25 and run <40 mph.

Information on my door jam says 33 psi in my 96 sport. I'm not too sure if it's the same for all XJs but you can check there to see what it says. Not sure about off road though

All of this depends on what size and type of tires you are running. I run 35x12.5 r15 KM2s. On the highway I run 24 psi front and rear. On trails I run 8-10 psi depending on if it is just mountain trails or rock climbing. Snow wheeling I run 6-8 depending on snow conditions, but for floating on spring snow I go down to 4-6 psi unless I have to side hill on the trail I'm that I'm playing on.
Hope this helps, it is a really simple question that doesn't have a, one answer fits all, type answer.

My '95 XJ Sport 4.0L is a daily driver, and I don't take it off-road every week. On dry pavement, I run the pressure specified on the sidewall of my 31/10.50-15 Falkens: 50 p.s.i. cold. Off-road, I air down as seems appropriate to the conditions, but only if somebody has a compressor with them. I don't own one, but I wish I did. One of these days when I'm rich and famous, I'll buy one. Until then, I carry two spares.

stock 28 or 29's should be about 32 on road and can be as low as 20 off road.

31's should be around 28psi on road and depending on rims can air down to about 16-18 off road.

33's i run at 24 on road and down to about 12 off road.

my 36's i run at 12 on road and 2-4 off road.

if you're not on stock size tires and rims, don't go by what's on the door jam.

also, if you have larger than stock tires, don't go by what's on the sidewall, that's for big trucks much heavier than your little xj.

X2
Low Profile: The 50 psi stamp on your 31/10.5 r15 sidewall is the max psi for the tire not a recommended psi for your vehicle.

Excellent info here. ^^^ I bumped the 31s on my wife's XJ to 30 per the door sticker. Had them at 28 before that. I'm going back down to 28. Too harsh and squirrely at 30.

Good point on the max p.s.i. on the sidewall. The mileage is sure better at 50. It's kind of a hard ride, though. I haven't noticed any tire wear issues, and it handles okay, even on slick streets. In comparison, 32 p.s.i. feels kind of mushy and my mileage drops to 13.5 per gallon. 50 is probably a little much, I might go down to 40.

just remember tho, too much air pressure will crown the tires, and you will only be riding on the center about an inch. not to mention tire wear.

also, it will feel loose and sloppy riding or squirrelly as was put, on the center inch.

Air pressure should be equal all 4 tires. unbalanced tire pressure can cause your TC to lock into 4wd. causes all kinds of issues with the 242 TC and the AWD Transfer cases.

Tire presser varies by tire size. 235s and smaller you can go by the door sticker, bigger you'd generally reduce that pressure by 1-3 pound per 1" over stock. Air-down requirements vary by terrain and tire size.
