If a person were trying to fix that, how would you go about it?

 

you'd probably wanna buy a new roof .. Cut the whole thing off at the top of the pillars and replace it.

 

You made the right move selling it. That was soooooooooo much worse than I was seeing in my head reading your original post.

I guess you could have put caulk on the sunroof, but it appears as someone already beat you to that....several times.

 

I'm all for trying to save every single XJ... look at my videos and you'll see me fixing a Jeep I probably should have given up on long ago, but boy oh boy.... When you said a hole in your roof... that is not what I was thinking. You made the right choice in getting rid of that one. It can be saved, but not without hours upon hours of work in cutting that roof off and welding a new one on. Not a job for the feint of heart.
