Default Tie Rod Base Length

I am going to be changing out my tie rod in the next few days and am just wondering if there is a base length to set it at. I would just measure the original on, but it is bent and has been since the day I bought the Jeep. I know the real trick is to measure between the front and back of the front wheels to get them as close to neutral as possible and would do that, but the surface I am going to be working on is very uneven and I don't know if that will affect the measurements.

The Jeep is not on the road yet, I have a few more things to do before I get it there so it isn't being driven yet. This is only to get me to the alignment shop, 9 miles away, when the time comes. I just don't want to bugger up my tires getting there

For the record I am installing a Rock Krawler HD tie rod in place of the OEM pretzel that is there right now

Yes I have a few tape measures, but I don't have a level surface to take measurements on. Does it make a difference if the tires are at the same level?

Your just setting the toe nothing else. Dont need to be on level ground for that.
