SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Some 1988 Jeep Comanche, Cherokee, and Wagoneer built between 01-20-88 and 06-23-88 equipped with front axle disconnect system, may experience a knocking/clicking noise at road speeds between 25 and 65 mph in the 2WD mode only. This noise condition is the result of machining tool marks at the differential end of the intermediate axle shaft.
maybe this, i have All Data at school I'll have to look into it.

ya..get under the truck and have somebody rock it forward/back..you will hear it. When was that greased? check if you see rust. Happened to me..took it off and it was dust in the caps and some bearings fused up to each other.

First of all put the proper size tires on teh front, a difference in size and pressure will cause problems on 4wd vehicles.

I also had the same exact issue. I greased all the bushings, etc, and it went away. I don't know which one the culprit was, but as someone else stated above, try greasing everything.
