Default Throttle Position Sensor

Today my Check Engine light came on, went to Auto Zone and had them test it, TPS. I want to try to clean it before I go and buy a replacement. Can someone tell me where it is, how to get it out and suggestions on cleaning it?

Can't clean the TPS...it's on the throttle body. It's in the middle of the 3 sensors on the TB. It's $35, and you need a small torx head to take it off. Take it off, put the new one on. That's all there is!

On your throttle body opposite side from the linkage (But in line with it - it reads the position of the throttle shaft). Should be held on with 2 Torx screws.

I've never felt the need to clean one so I will let someone else field that part of your question.

Aww! He still had a chance to get it right!! Haha... But your right; why keep a 13 y/o part if the codes indicated it was bad? You might find it worth while to replace a lot of the ignition/firing components... IMHO, that is... I did a bunch of replacing on my 99... Mostly just chasing this electrical gremlin, but it was still worth it.

On my '94 its attached to the throttle body on the back toward the passenger side. Black - 2 screws hold it on and there's a clip for the wiring. But I don't think its a part that you can clean. The idle air control is also attached to the throttle body and that you can clean. Very simple change out. For the extra $10 I'd go with a napa part but just my 2 bits.
