ok i was wanting to no if eneyone nows how to test the tps

Depending on the year model will determine whether you can adjust it or not. 91 and newer has no adjustment. Best you can do is get a voltmeter and test per the link above. If it's bad you replace it..if it's a 90 and older I do believe it has an adjustment screw.

i tryed to use the volt meter an i keep getting no readings

Did you follow the directions of the link he posted? is the ignition turned on?

yea but my conector is a little different then that one mine is a 200 xj but i just get no reading i mean wat else could make my rpms bounce a little at a idle

96 and up (OBD2) XJ's are non-adjustable....period. You can test the input and output voltages, and you can check for continuity across the contacts and look for dead spots, but that's it.

where are you grounding the meter too?

well it says to put the ground in the black and the positive in the red with the key on and with the throtal open it should be a lil less then 4.8 volts and i ant getting nothing
