Default Things to replace to renew a 1988 cherokee?

Hi guys this is my first post and I am new so I am sorry if this is a stupid or repeating thread but I got a 88 cherokee on my hand that has a great tank engine and I just cant seem to let it go for 500$ or so. so I am thinking about giving this jeep a bit of life and make it liveley like its younger days.

What things are of the norm to Change or replace to make this car run better? power and handling wise.. not the really expensive things but medium

obvious problems are that when i put car in gear and drive it it sounds like the whole car is shaking and making noises like the car is gonna fall apart !! also a ticking noise when car in gear..? ANY IDEAS WHAT THESE CAN BE?

First thing I'd do is find the source of that shake. Crawl on under and take a look at the u-joints. Check for looseness or binding, rust around the edge of the caps...
Might also pull the inspection cover and check the flex plate bolts, they can work loose and make all sorts of expensive-sounding noises.

Do you have an auto or manual trans? 4.0 engine?

Cruiser has a good write-up on refreshing the grounds and the C101 plug, both an important maintenance item on Jeeps of that era. I don't have the links handy, but they get posted a lot- the'll come up in a search.

How long since a "tune up" was done? Plugs, wires, cap, filters, etc?

well...being an '88, I'd dump and re-fill the diff. at some point, unless you know when it was last done. That oil lasts a long time, but it may have been in there a long time too, lol.
If it's a 4X4 get the front one too.

Like Radi said, track down the source of the shake. I would definitely check out the brakes before you try to get her back on the road. You do want it to stop once you get her going. Keep us updated on your endeavor.
Good luck
