Default Is there a problem or just old parts?

Ok so I have a 1990 Cherokee and last month I blew my upper radiator hose on a trip to ATL from Augusta GA. Then today my windows stopped working for some reason I have no idea why yet and I had the jeep running for power without killin gmy battery and it blew a hole in my radiator right by the cap. I took a picture and you can see it shooting water out sort of...

so is it because I have 20 year old parts that its doing this? Or is there somehting wrong for my hose and overflow to blow?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but since this is a '90 it's got the pressurized cooling system, right?

You may want to consider converting it to the new style cooling system that isn't pressurized. I think it's just a different radiator cap and expansion tank, but I may be wrong. Do a search on 'cooling system conversion', should be some writeups on it.

So yes, if this is a pressurized system, it probably failed because the plastic got old and brittle.

I think your right on that because I dont have a radiator cap. just that tank and water flows from it. so I thnk it would have to be a pressurized system. ok Ill look it up thanks!

Or you could just replace the tank and cap and the T-Stat.

Yeah I searched around for the conversion and no one has a write up but it was described a little and it would be more simple to just change out the old parts and keep the closed system.

Turns out the reason my temps were getting so high and blowing my old parts is because my fan isnt cutting on. the one that normally cuts on around 210. it hit 230 in the driveway today and I had the hood up and the fan did not come on. Ill test it out and see if its the connections, fuse, or fan. I think ill go ahead and do the bypass that makes it always run...

check clutch on the other fan, belt driven fan is main fan, runs constantly, clutch wears out
