Default Is there a block heater?

My 1998 4.0L xj has a male 3 prong 110V.A.C. cord tied up on top of the intake manifold. Did they all come with this, or is this for mostly Northern jeeps?

Yes..... there was an factory option for a block heater.... You will mostly see in areas that are colder than 30* in the winter....

Maybe I'll try it out on our one snow day that we get each year. It might get down to 28 if it's bad.

I've not seen that on gasoline engines, just diesels. It might be a good idea in places where its frequently below 10*F.

follow the wire to see if it goes to the block. generally they replace a frost plug.
all 4 of my newer jeeps have them.

Block heater. Pretty much every vehicle sold in canada comes with one. Im sure you can order them without it but dealers really only carry in stock vehicles that have them.
