Default Terrible screeching sound.

I've got a 1994 Cherokee Country edition, and whenever I slow down while daily driving or turn at low speed, or put a load on the alternator by turning my lights on and aux fan or blower motor, the belt will begin to screech like CRAZY!. I'll hear the screech, the volts on my dash will drop to about 10 from 14, and it won't go away until I rev up the engine to about 2k while accelerating. I have adjusted my PS Pump to check belt tension, but I don't think it's holding it. Could low belt tension be causing this? Or is it more likely that it's the alternators bearings going and screaming? All help appreciated.
(Edit: Alternator is three months old. If that.)

It sounds like either the belt isn't tight enough or the belt is worn out and needs replaced.

Yeah, just wanted to ask before I bought a belt and did that. Any other opinions out there, CF?

Got it resolved! Combination of bad belt, lots of drag on the engine from a bad A/C compressor clutch, and the P.S. pump slipping looser and looser over time. Replaced belt, shimmed tensioner bolt on the P.S. pump, installed bypass pulley in place of faulty A/C compressor, and got her tight enough and running quiet again.
