jus picked up a 93 cherokee sport 4 door auto i6 lady i bought it from said that the temp switch is bad it dont over heat when i drive it goes almost 240 when i hit the brakes it goes up higher when i accelarate it goes down but showes no signs of overheating no water gushing nothing ????? she not to pay attention to gauge wat can i replace to get a good temp reading i wired the electric fan to come on with the ignition

 

try just replacing the sending unit to the gauge and you shouldnt need your cooling fan on as soon as you turn on the vehicle its overcooling the engine

 

240 is overheating. Replace the temp sensors....

 

Replace the temp sending unit.It's on top of the head at the rear on drivers side. There is one wire that goes into it.It's about $15.Be careful removeing and installing it cuz it's hollow brass and will break very easy.Take your time.I broke my first one and it was a PITA to fix.Good luck.

 

it was replaced today i was driving it was in the red zone for a while but no signs agian can u put a mechanical gauge on a jeep anywhere there is a little port at the bottom where a non ho truck uses a water temp gauge by the motor mount there is a little spot ???
